On our way, 4:30 AM at PDX!  The early morning shine time was no fun, but we did make it to JFK 45 minutes early this afternoon. A good flight.

 

Here's the view from the little balcony of our 43rd floor apartment at The Ritz Plaza Manhattan. Barbara, Kris and Jeanne may recognize the building with the green pointed top midway down on the right hand side.  That is the World Wide Plaza building where we stayed last October.

 

This is our current neighborhood, with the historic Longacre Theater right across the street, starring Kelsey Grammer in La Cage Aux Folles.  We don't have tickets..

Quite a police presence in Times Square these days.  This is right across the street from the Times Square Police Department.  I think it was a shift change..

A first glimpse of the Empire State Building.  The setting sun was really highlighting the golden tones and the reds.

The view from the top.  It was just past sunset, but there was still some color in the sky.

Then the lights started to come on.

The Chrysler Building was magnificent!

 

After a long exit line at the ESB, we took the subway down to the East Village for some tapas at La Paella.

It was a little piece of Barcelona in the heart of the East Village, right down to the Don Quixote mural on the wall and the Gaudi-style ironwork in side and out.  The tapas and the the sangria were excellent!

Unfortunately, it was 10:45 PM by the time we made it to Katz's Deli, and they were closing for the night.  I guess the Pastrami Sandwiches and Katz's lager will need to be for another night...or, another trip!
